City Folk Fusion
The traditional Swiss costume has always characterised the idyllic postcard image of the country, but is barely present in everyday life today. Neither is the craftsmanship that goes into it. My bachelor's thesis in Textile Design at HSLU DFK, aims to reinterpret the creative expressiveness and traditional craftsmanship of traditional Swiss costume and translate it into a contemporary street style. A collection of accessories was created from used materials that combines tradition with modernity. It invites you to question familiar ways of seeing things, to rediscover the fascination for the traditional and to give new appreciation to the almost forgotten craft.
